Regarding an Uncertified Computer Program

Description of the Deficiency During cn audit of our geologic consultant, Dames and Moore, dccumentation was not available to verify that the MARC-CDC computer program as modified by them was certified in accordance with their Quality Assurance Program requirements. Since the modified Marc-CDC computer program was used to analyze rock movement for the design of a safety related turbine building wall (the 12 line wall), it was believed that this condition may have adversely af fected the safety of operations of the plant if it had remained uncorrected.

Analysis of Safety Implications As indicated below, the MARC-CDC computer program as' modified by Dames and Moore has been certified. Therefore, this condition would not have adversely affected the safety of operations of the plant if it were to have remained uncorrected.

I Corrective Action A job-specific certification of the MARC-CDC computer program as modified by Dames and Moore has been performed. All test cases run showed satisfactory results and the certification of the computer program is completed.
