BELLEFONTE NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 - FAILURE TO SPECIFY IEEE CLASS ON PROCUREMENT SPECIFICATIONS - BLRD-50-438/83-34, BLRD-50-439/83 SECOND INTERIM REPORT The subject deficiency was initially reported to NRC-0IE Inspector Linda Watson on May 9, 1983 in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55(e) as NCR BLN EEB 8307. Since that time related NCR BLN BLP 8324 has been reported and will be handled jointly with NCR BLN EEB 8307. This was followed by our interim report dated June 9,1983 Enclosed is our second interim report. We expect to submit our next report by August 20, 1984.

ENCLOSURE BELLEFONTE NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 FAILURE TO SPECIFY IEEE CLASS ON PROCUREMENT SPECIFICATIONS BLRD-50-438/83-34, BLRD-50-439/83-30 10 CPR 50.55(e)
NCRs BLN EEB S307 AND BLN BLP 8324 SECOND INTERIM REPORT Description of Deficiency Limit switches, control valves, and solenoid valves for safety-related systems which are required to be class 1E components, were procured from Crane Company (Chempump Division), Yarway Corporation, Copes-Vulcan Corporation, and Masoneilan Valve Corporation without specifying the proper IEEE class. Because of this inadvertent error, documentation necessary to verify the class of these components was not provided.
Interim Progress The supplier (s) of the equipment affected by this condition have been contacted by TVA's Electrical Engineering Support Branch (EEB) to see if the necessary documentation to permit the use of this -equipment in

class 1E applications could be obtained. With the exception of two valvea supplied by Yarway Corporation, this documentation is not available. Procurement of replacement equipment by EEB has been initiated. TVA will provide the NRC with further information in our next report.
