The refueling has been com-pleted. Major maintenance activities in progress are emergency diesel gen-erator repair and inspection and the reactor coolant pump motor modifica-tions. The Unit remained out of ser-vice at the end of the month.

The Unit entered the reporting period in Mode 5, with the Reactor Coolant System at loop, making preparations for the seventh refueling.

Mode 6 was entered at 0030 hours3.472222e-4 days 0.00833 hours 4.960317e-5 weeks 1.1415e-5 months on Aug. 11, 1983.

The Reactor Cavity flood up was started at 1200 hours0.0139 days 0.333 hours 0.00198 weeks 4.566e-4 months on Aug. 15, 1983 and the Refueling Shuffle was commenced at 0220 hours0.00255 days 0.0611 hours 3.637566e-4 weeks 8.371e-5 months on Aug. 19, 1983.

The Fuel Shuffle was completed at 2245 hours0.026 days 0.624 hours 0.00371 weeks 8.542225e-4 months on Aug. 23, 1983 and the Reactor Coolant System was drained to loop at 1611 hours0.0186 days 0.448 hours 0.00266 weeks 6.129855e-4 months on Aug. 29, 1983.

The Unit entered Mode 5 at 2130 hours0.0247 days 0.592 hours 0.00352 weeks 8.10465e-4 months on Aug. 31,-1983 and has remained there the balance of the reporting period while Unit repair work continues.

8/4/83 The High and Low Demand Fire Pumps were inoperable from 0955 hours0.0111 days 0.265 hours 0.00158 weeks 3.633775e-4 months on 8/4/83 until 1340 hours0.0155 days 0.372 hours 0.00222 weeks 5.0987e-4 months on 8/31/83 for Hydrolazering the suction piping.

8/8/83 The East ESW Pump was inoperable for a 37.5 hour5.787037e-5 days 0.00139 hours 8.267196e-6 weeks 1.9025e-6 months period for motor replacement.

8/13/83 R-25/26 (Vent Stack Rad Monitor) was inoperable for a 2.75 hour8.680556e-4 days 0.0208 hours 1.240079e-4 weeks 2.85375e-5 months period to repair the Filter Drive Motor.

8/17/83 N-32 (Source Range Detector) was out of service tor a 11.25 hour2.893519e-4 days 0.00694 hours 4.133598e-5 weeks 9.5125e-6 months period due to " spiking".

The Low Pressure Carbon Dioxide Fire Suppression System was inoperable for a 1.25 hours2.893519e-4 days 0.00694 hours 4.133598e-5 weeks 9.5125e-6 months period to repair a solenoid coil.

8/18/83 The Low Pressure Carbon Dioxide Fire Suppression System was again inoperable for a 0.5 hour5.787037e-5 days 0.00139 hours 8.267196e-6 weeks 1.9025e-6 months period to replace a tailed solenoid.

8/20/83 The West CCW Train was inoperable from 2115 hours0.0245 days 0.588 hours 0.0035 weeks 8.047575e-4 months on 8/20 to 0133 hours0.00154 days 0.0369 hours 2.199074e-4 weeks 5.06065e-5 months on 8/25 to test the Safety Valve on the RHR Heat Exchanger.

8/24/83 The Control Room Fire Detection System was declared inoperable at 1435 hours0.0166 days 0.399 hours 0.00237 weeks 5.460175e-4 months due to failure to satisfactorily demonstrate that the detectors will perform as installed.

The Control Room Cable Vault Halon System remains inoperable as of 1400 hours0.0162 days 0.389 hours 0.00231 weeks 5.327e-4 months on 4/5/83.

The Backup CO System remains operable except for 7

those times as stated in the Sumary.

Fire Watch's were posted during these times as required.

,r M-1 Two tubes in #1 steam generator were identified as needing to be plugged. The two tubes were plugged using mechanical tube plugs.

M-2 Eddy Current testing of #12 steam generator identified two tubes _which required plugging. The two tubes were plugged using mechanical tube plugs.. One additional tube was erro-neously plugged.-

M-3 Eddy Current testing of #1'3 steam generator identified nine tubes which required plugging. The nine tubes were plugged using mechanical tube plugs.

M-4 Two tubes in #4 steam generator were identified as needing to be plugged. The two tubes were plugged using mechanical tube 1

plugs.

M-5 The East Essential Service. Water Pump Motor upper bearing was noisy. Replaced the motor. Also replaced one power cable lug at the motor end and performed a high potential insulation test of the cable. Had the pump tested.

M-6 Containment spray system ring header containment isolation check valve, RH-142, was tested and found to leak 8 SCCM.

The limit is a maximum of 4 SCCM. The valve was disassembled, cleaned and lapped. The valve was reassembled. Had the valve retested.

M-7 Control air check valve, CA-181N, failed to pass the Type C leak rate test. Removed and cleaned the valve. Reinstalled the valve and had it retested.

'M The West Essential Service Water Pump was removed for periodic inspection. The inspection revealed the need to have the pump rebuilt.- A spare pump was installed and tested.

M-9 Pressurizer Power Operated Relief Valve, NRV-151, was leaking by. Lapped the seats, cleaned the valve and replaced the gaskets. Had the valve tested.
