, In ansder to your'above referenced' memo I,would like to rest, ate my original position regarding the continued operation of the DR-V-1.
Analysis of the current data available indicates that s' tress corrosion cracking of the DH-V-1 under the current operating environment is improbable and therefore, continued operation of the valve is justified 'at this time for at least one additional year 'and undoubtedly more.
However, because there is always some uncertaintiy when dealing with stress corrosion cracking
~, the recommendation to consider the feasibility of non-destructive e.umination was made to minimize or elininate thj.s uncertainty.
This' inspection is not a prerequisite for continued ciperation this year or any other year, but rather is an added insurance to help preclude unexpected failure in the future.
