NINE MILE POINT UNIT 2 DOCKET NO. 50-410 30-Day Interim Report for a Problem Concerning Agastat Relay Bases The problem pertains to Agastat relay bases installed in the panels of the Power Generation Control Complex (PGCC) by the General Electric Company.
During a Niagara Mohawk Quality Assurance surveillance (No. SRNMP2-101583), it was discovered that several safety related Agastat relay bases were not tightened to the metal channels in the panels to the torque specified in General Electric shop instructions.
In addition, fiber washers which were supposed to be included in the installation of the Agastat relay to the metal channel in accordance with shop instructions were also omitted in several General Electric installed connections.
During the surveillance, one base was discovered to be cracked.
This problem is under investigation by Niagara Mohawk and General Electric. A final report will be submitted by November 7, 1983.
