Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

i South Carolina Electric and Gas Company (SCE&G) responded i

to.the subject audit. report on May 11, 1983 indicating that SCEEG anticipated completing the corrective action, issuance of Training Procedure III. A.4 "Requalification Program for USNRC Licensed Operators and Senior Operators," by June 30, 1983.

This procedure is part of the newly developed Nuclear Education and Training Group Manual which addresses the administrative controls and the implementation requirements of the overall Training Program.

In an effort to ensure consistency in this Manual, and to provide for a more effective review, the entire manual has been issued for. review and approval.

In the interim, SCEEG has required all licensed personnel to read and sign the Operations Required Reading Book as being defined in III.A.4.- This ensures'all licensed personnel are being made aware of significant changes to

' f acility design, procedures, Technical Specifications and the Facility Operating License.

They are also being made aware of significant operating experiences.

For the above. reasons, SCE&G requests an extension of the

. completion date to August'15, 1983 in order to achieve full; compliance with the commitment.
