The cabject deficiency uns initially reported to NP.C-0IE Inspector R. V. Crlenjak on Septezber 24, ;961 in accordsnce with 10 CFK 50.5S(e) as NCR's 1597 and 1598. This was followed by our interk reports dated October 22 and DecemNP 2,1981; February 19,. Tune 29, and September 27, 1932; cad Jc.nuey 7, and April 25, 1983 Enclosed is our eignth interim report. We expect to submit cur ne::t report by November 18, 1983 We consider 10 CFR Pnet 21 epplicab36 to this deficiency.

BOLTS AND NUTS FAIL TO MEET ASTM SPECIFICATIONS NCR'Si tS97 AND 1598 BLRD-50-438/81-64, BLRD-50-439/81-62 _,
EIGHTH INTERIM REPORT Description of Deficiency 10,000, 3/4" stainless steel nuts (furnished by Chattanooga Bolt and Screw, Chattanooga, Tennessee) and 10,600, 3/4" x 3-1/2" stainless steel bolts (furnished by Challenge Enterprises, Chattanooga, Tennessee),were received not marked in accordance with ASTM specifications. Subsequent testing of e
the subject material by Singleton Materials Engineering Laboratory revealed the material failed to meet ASTM specifications. The associated r
documentation received with the material erroneously indicated that the nuts and bolts do meet ASTM specifications. Approximately 450 of these bolts and 1300 nuts have been issusd to the field for installation.
Nonconformanco report (NCR) 1597 pertains,to the bolts and NCR 1598

i Interim Pro 3ress TVA is currently reviewing the results of the Eingleten Laboratory analyeis of tha bclting material. The test results will be discussed upon coupletion cf the subject review.
