O NIAGARA M0 HAWK POWER CORPORATION NINE MILE POINT - UNIT 2 DOCKET N0. 50-410 Interim Report for a Problem Concerning Control Rod Drive System Clamps Description of the Problem Control rod drive system piping clamps were included with the reactor vessel internals supplied by General Electric Company. The clamps restrain General Electric-supplied piping in the area of the control rod drive housing.
Reactor Controls Incorporated utilized these supports as ASME-qualified pipe supports in the control rod drive piping analysis. Subsequently, General Electric informed Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation that these clamps are not ASME qualified and were intended for use.only as shipping clamps.
The matter is still under investigation, and a final report will be submitted by August 29, 1983.
