Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
Carolina Power & Light Company has reviewed your letter, dated December 3,1982, IE Bulletin 82-04, " Deficiencies in Primary Containment Electrical Penetration Assemblies." Carolina Power & Light Company feels that the deficiencies outlined in the subject bulletin are not a concern at H. B.
Robinson, Unit No. 2 since all of the primary containment electrical penetrations were manufactured by Crouse-Hinds Company to a Westinghouse design and specification. The spare penetration in stock was purchased directly from Westinghouse and is of the same design as the installed units.
The Westinghouse design uses a ceramic seal to encapsulate cable pigtail entry and has not had any of the problems attributed to the Bunker Ramo Company hard epoxy design.
If you have any questions regarding this response, please contact a member of my staff.
Yours very truly, S
B.
