V. Celenjak on January 11, 1982 in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55(e) as NCR 1707 Enclosed is our first interim report. We expect to submit our next report by June 23, 1982. We consider 10 CFR Part 21 applicable to this deficiency.

FIRST INTERIM REPORT Description of Deficiency The chiller units listed below, manufactured by Dunham-Bush of West liart ford, Connecticut, exhibit extensive weld deficiencies on welds performed by the vendor. The extent of the deficiencies has not been fully evaluated yet, but visual examination revealed undercut, cold lapped, porosity, weld spatter, lack of fusion, mismatched components, numerous arc strikes, weld wires protruding from welds, and slag pockets.
