Florida Power COAPOmafense January 20,1983 3F-0183-19 Mr. H. R. Denton, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555 Attention:
John F. Stoltz, Citief Operating Reactors Branch #4
Subject:
Crystal River Unit 3 Docket No. 50-302 Operating License No. DPR-72 Technical Specification Change Request No.105
Dear Mr. Denton:
This supplements my letter of January 14, 1983 which submitted Technical Specification Change Request No.105. Table 2, which was inadvertantly not included in the Technical Specification submittal, is attached. As requested by your Staff, during our meeting on January 17,1983, we have reviewed all the " actuated equipment associated" with the ESFAS testing addressed by the Change Request to identify the last time their operability was verified by means other than the subject test and at what frequency they were thus tested.
The results are as follows:
(1)
All pumps are tested monthly.
(2)
All but four of the valves were tested in either December or January. Those tested in December (approximately 25% of the total) are tested every cold shutdown of sufficient duration.
Those tested in January are tested on a quarterly basis and will continue to be. BSV-Il and 12 have been deleted from ESFAS as part of the resolution of the Moderator Dilution Concerns (see Amendment 17 to the CR-3 Operating License dated January 4,1979). BSV-36 and 37 are tested on a Refueling frequency due to concerns with regard to Sodium Hydroxide introduction into the RCS.
