Vaca Paastosur Nect, mas oPERATIONE Mr. Harold R. Denton, Director Serial No. 542A Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation N0/JHL:rhh Attn:

Mr. Robert A. Clark, Chief Docket No. 50-339 Operating Reactors Branch No. 3 License No. NPF-7 Division of Licensing U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C.

20555 Gentlemen:

VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNIT NO. 2 SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FOR PROPOSED OPERATING LICENSE AMENDMENT In our letter dated March 18, 1982 (Serial No. 141), VEPCO requested relief until the fall maintenance outage for North Anna Unit 2 License Condition 2.C(15) (h) (4). The requested relief was due to the twelve to sixteen week lead time until qualified pressure switches could be delivered.

The intent of the twelve to sixteen week lead time was for pressure switchea to be qualified and delivered.

In our recent letter dated September 27, 1982 (Scrial No. 542), VEPCO requested relief until the end of the second refueling outage for North Anna Unit 2 License Condition 2.C(15) (h) (4).

The requested relief was due to the un-availability of Category I pressure switches for the diesel generator day tank modifications.

The delay in obtaining qualified pressure switches is due to qualification delays from the manufacturer, ASCO.

VEPCO will install non-qualified pressure switches on the diesel generator day tank prior to October 31, 1982.

ASCO has commented that the pressure switches that are being installed this October are the pressure switches they are trying to qualify.

The qualification program is expected to be completed in January, 1983.

If there are any pressure switch modifications resulting from the qualification program, VEPCO will obtain and' install the qualified pressure switches.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.

Very truly yours, t
