Dear Mr. Denton:

k i TK \ o>/

In the Matter of the ) Docket Nos. STN 50-566 Tennessee Valley Authority ) 50-567 This letter is to inform you of several changes at the Yellow Creek Nuclear Plant which are related to the slowdown in construction activities described in our August 14, 1981 letter to you.

The busing portion of TVA's employee transportation program is no longer justifiable as a mitigation effort due to lower employment levels and changes in construction scheduling. The road system in the area can accommodate project traffic without continued busing.

TVA initiated waterfowl-wetlands wildlife monitoring in the Yellow Creek embayment in 1974 and has followed with preconstruction and construction effects monitoring. The results of these investigations clearly indicate that construction has not materially affected nearby wildlife populations. Additionally, TVA has found that waterfewl (breeding wood duck) populations in the project area are insignificantly low. Therefore, TVA plans to terminate the spring-summer waterfowl-wetland portion of this program. The fall-winter monitoring activities will continue.

Upon resumption of previous levels of const. .tetion activity at the Yellow Creek Nuclear Plant construction project, TVo plans to evaluate the need to reestablish these discontinued programs.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call.

Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY

)~ .

L.'M. Mills, Manager Nuclear Regulation and Safety
