StMERY OF METING HELD OM SEPTEMBER 9,19P1 l
TOPIC III-6, R. E. GIMA l
[
On Septaber 9,1981, the NRC staff and staff consultant (Dr. J. D. Stevenson) met with representatives of Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation (RGSE) to s
f discuss the Systematic Evaluation Pre'srem (SEe) seismic rwiew of Ginna J
helear Power Plant. Attendees are IIsted in Enclosure 1.
The purpose of this meeting was to (1) perform an audit review of the licensee's latest
[
analysis results for the seismic open 1taas addressed in NRC letter dated l
January 5,1981 and (2) set a schedule of licensee's response to those f tes i
editch might still resin open after this meeting. The meeting agenda is
(
attached (Enclosure 2).
i 7
After an opening statement by the staff, a discussion of the licensee's re-(
sponses to those open itams took place.
The results of the review and dis-cussion are summarized below:
l (1) Component Cooling Surge Tank - the staff accepted ifcensee's design criteria and analysis results. No scheduled was planned for the design j
and insta11stfon of new modification of tank supporting systm. This l
f ten will be considered as an open ite until the modification program plan is settled.
I l
(2) Refueling Water Storage Tank
' response will be sutnitted by Deceober 1, t
1 981.
l (3) Bracing at Auxiliary and Turbine Buildings - response will be sutritted by hov m ber 6 1 %1.

(4) Anchorage of Electrical Equipment (Motor Lontrol Centers. Sai tt v,ea r s,
i and Control Room Panels), and Internally Mounted Components - the staff considered that the modification design of electrical equi;r.ent anchorage systen and the evaluations and moj tftcation of interna 11j 4
mounted elements are adequate. However, the structural design adequecf of the load path )etween an electrical component or device through the panel frame and bracing to the anchorgge systen was not demons *. rated The licensee agreed to sutait their response re9arding this matter ' <
October 31, 1961.
(5) Ba ttery Rac k s - o. k.
(6) Motor Operated Valves - the licensee's structural integrity evaluation of seismic Category I Motor Operated Yalves (both valves and piping) larger than 2") under their seismic upgrade program was considered to be adequate.
Licensee agree to review its seismic Category I pipe lines in size of 2") and under to identify any motor operated valves.
A separate evaluation will be perfonned on the effect of valve oceen-tricity on the pipe stresses if any MDV is identified on the maall piping (2"Aandunder).
In addition, the licensee agreed to provide l
inforination for the evaluation of function integrity of MOVs. All information will be submitted to the staff by October 31, 1 981.
(7) Essential Service Water Pumps - this itse will rensin open and will be reviewed during integrated assessment.
(8) Reactor Coolant Pumps - renained open and response to be submitted by December 31, 1 981.
