l Docket Numbers 50-369 and -370 l

Technical Specification Change to Reduce Required t

Minimum Measured Reactor Coolant System Flow By letter of October 25, 1993, Duke Power Company requested a change to Technica] Specifications to reduce the minimum required reactor coolant system flowrate, in conjunction with a change to a related safety limit Technical Specification, for McGuire (and Catawba) Nuclear Station (s).

Subsequent discussions with the NRC staf f have indicated that approval of the flow-reduction portion of l

the requested change could proceed more swiftly (having already l

been approved for Catawba Unit 1) if it were separated from the change to the safety limit specification.

Accordingly, attached is a

revised (to reflect the reduced flowrate) Figure 2.1-1 as it would appear without the change to the j

safety limit specification. It is requested that the review of the j

change to the flow-reduction specification proceed as quickly as practicable. Discussions with the NRC staff have indicated that review of the safety limit portion of the October 25, 1993 request i

are continuing, but does not have a potential to impact plant 1

l operation and therefore will not receive the same priority as the

]

reduction in required flow.
