LIMITORQUE VALVE OPERATORS SIGNIFICANT CONSTRUCTION DEFICIENCY IIOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION On June 19, 1981, a verbal report was made to Region I, Office of Inspection and Enforcement representative, Mr. R. Gallo, advising of a significant deficiency concerning limitorque valve operators. On July 17 and November 19, 1981, written reports were submitted to your office. The following informa-tion is provided to update the above reports in accordance with the requirements of 10CFR50.55 (e) .
i l 1. Based on the results of a sample inspection of limitorque i operators on-site, we conclude that the scope of rework involved is less than originally anticipated. Consequently, inspection and rework as required of the limitorque opera-tors is scheduled to be done during the cable pulling and termination phase of installation.
- 2. Instructions governing this inspection and rework will be included in the cable termination work procedure scheduled for issuance by December 31, 1982.
- 3. Quality Control inspection and verification of rework for safety related limitorque operators will be documented on Inspection Reports provided for this purpose.
