Update 5 contains changes made to the facility or procedure changes as previously described in the UFSAR; safety evaluations supporting license amendments or other changes that did not involve an unreviewed safety question; and analyses of new safety issues up through June 30, 1990.

As stated in our correspondence to you dated December 27, 1989, GPU Nuclear recognized that discrepancies existed in the Updated TSAR, and efforts were initiated to upgrade its accuracy.

While we have a continuing program to upgrade the FSAR, the enclosed update includes significant improvemente particularly in the following areas:

Containment spray /Emorgency Service Water System b)

Environmental Qualification of Equipment c)

Control Room Habitability d)

Seismic Analysis for As-built Safety Related Piping Systems e)

Organizational Structure f)

Radioactive Waste Management g)

therefore any and all UFSAR documents in your possession must be destroyed.

Also, please note even though all pages have " Update, 5, 12/90" in the lower right corner, those pages that have changed since tne last update are shown by the bar in the right hand margin.

Remove and destroy the frontal and spinal inserts of the eight superseded volumes along.with the contents of these-volumes.

The binders may be used for other items at your discretion.

Also, within 10 days of receipt of the enclosed Update 5, please sign the acknowledgment at the bottom of this memo and return to Betty Nash at the above address.
