ENCLOSURE BELLEFONTE hUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 2 CORROSION OF DIESEL GENERATOR CONTROL PANEL NCR 1380 BLRD-50-439/81-28 10 CFR 50.55(e)
FIFTH INTERIM REPORT Description of Deficiency 1
One of the Bellefonte diesel generator's control panels was improperly stored onsite by TVA. As a result, the ferrous metal parts of the subcomponent voltage regulation panel have oxidized to the extent that the 3
component is not capable of performing the fbnction for which it was intended. In addition, corrosion of other components in the control panel (plates, nuts, and bolts, etc.) of the diesel have rendered it inoperable in its present condition.
Interim Progress The vendor (Transamerica Delaval) has notified TVA that the diesel's damaged voltage regulation panel, a component of control panel 2RT-ELCP-2-B, is beyond repair and must be replaced. A delivery date of December 1982 has been establish for delivery of the replacement voltage regulation panel.
TVA is investigating the cause of this deficiency and the actions to 3
prevent recurrence.
