NIAGARA M0 HAWK POWER CORPORATION i Nine Mile Point - Unit 2 Docket No. 50-410 Interim Report for a Deficiency Under 10CFR50.55(e) Regarding HFA Relay Contact Setting Description of Deficiency The problem concerns the incorrect " wipe setting" of normally closed contacts on some 4FA relays converted from nomally open by General Electric (GE) shop and/or ,ield personnel. Qualification of the relay was perfomed with calibrated contacts. Therefore, a relay with less than a minimum wipe setting does not fall within the component qualification limits. GE reported this problem to the NRC, under 10CFR21, on July 27, 1982.

The matter is still under investigation. A final report will be submitted by December 31, 1982.
