Sjogren TELEPHONE 617-366-9011 X2281' REPORT MONTH October 1978 SU:CIARY OF OPERATING EXFERIENCES Highlights Vermont Yankee operated for 11 of 31 days in the report period. For the entire month of October, the plant operated at an average of 19.8%
of rated thermal power. Gross electrical generation for the month was 74,382 MWHe or 18.5*. of design electrical capacity.
Operation Summary The following is a chronological description of plant operations in-cluding other pertinent items of interest for the month:
10-1 At the beginning of this report period, the plant was in the shutdown mode for refueling.
~
At 0500 hours0.00579 days
0.139 hours
8.267196e-4 weeks
1.9025e-4 months
, a return to full power was initiated ending 10-12 the September-October refueling outage.
10-18 At 0200 hours0.00231 days
0.0556 hours
3.306878e-4 weeks
7.61e-5 months
, having achieved 84% of rated thermal capacity, a reactor scram occurred.
This scram was due to a reactor recirculation punp overspeed. A return to full power was initiated at 1000 hours0.0116 days
0.278 hours
0.00165 weeks
3.805e-4 months
.
10-23 At 0500 hours0.00579 days
0.139 hours
8.267196e-4 weeks
1.9025e-4 months
, while at 99% power, the reactor was manu-ally shut down iue to turbine bearing problems.
10-30 At 1700 hours0.0197 days
0.472 hours
0.00281 weeks
6.4685e-4 months
,. return to full power was initiated.
10-31 At the conclusion of this report period, the reactor was operating at 55 of rated thermal power and increasing in preparation for plant startup.
