Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

As required by IE Bulletin 80-13, a visual inspection of the Unit No. 2 core spray spargers has been performed. During this inspection, a crack was located on the A loop upper clockwise sparger arm near the weld to the T-box at 170 azimuth. This crack is circumferential and extends approximately 120 around the pipe. Exhaustive analysis and evaluation of the sparger strut integrity and ECCS performance determined that no corrective action was required for continued operaticn with this crack. However, to allay any potential concerns of safe plant operation, Brunswick has decided to install a clamp over the cracked area. This clamp will ensure that the sparger will retain integrity and the flow injection distribution will not be significantly affected.
