Re: Docket 50-289SP
' - A; TMI - Unit 1 Middletown, PA jm A
De ar Mr. Ahe arne,
Failure on the part of NRC to provide swift action on the restart of this plant is costing the citizens of the United States a tremendous amount of money.
There are some who feel that the apparently discriminatory action NRC is applying to this unit is unnecessary and unjustified.
It is true that we haven't yet figured out just how the clean up of Unit 2 is going to be paid for.
But the simpleist reasoning will lead ons to the conclusion that the tremendous total cost will have such f ar reaching impact, that in some way all of us are going to end up paying for it.
If Unit 1 is really unsafe it shouldn't be operated until it is made safe.
But if that isn't the case let's get it going again.
No sense in adding " insult to injury".
Sincerely, Larry E. Gruber cc: Senator John Tower Senator Lloyd Bentsen l
Congressman James M. Collins e
