By your application and affidavit dated April 13, 1982 you submitted a response to NRC questions concerning the use of Combustion Engineering (CE) analytic methods, as these methods relate to Calvert Cliffs !! nit 1 Cycle 6 analyses. The responses to these questions have been incor-porated in a CE report entitled " Response to Physics Ouestions", CFP!-

Your reasons for requesting our wfthho'lding of this infomation were related to the protection of Combustion Enqineering's competitive position concerning CE analytic nethods.

We have reviewed your application and material based on the requirments and criteria of 10 CFR 2.790 and have detemined that the above-mentioned document sought to be withheld contains proprietary commercial infomatinn.

We also have found at this time that the right of the public to be fully apprised as to the bases for and effects of the proposed action does not outweigh the demonstrated concern for protection of your competitive position. Accordingly, we have detemined that the infomation should be withheld fron public disclosure.

We therefore approve your request for withholding pursuant to Section 2.790 of 10 CFR Part 2 and are withholding the above-referenced material concerning CE analytic methods from public inspection as proprietary.

Withholding from public inspection shall not affect the right, if any, of persons properly and directly concerned to inspect the document. If the need arises, we may send copies of this infomation to our consultants working in this area. We will, of course assure that the consultants have signed the appropriate agreements for handling proprietary data.
