Dear Mr. Denton:
DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 FURTHER RESPONSE TO_NUREG-0737, ITEM II.D.1 POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 NUREG-0737, Item II.D.1, contains a requirement that PWR licensees demonstrate proper functioning of block valves over the range of expected operating and accident conditions.
By a letter dated June 1, 1982, Mr.
R.
C. Youngdahl, on behalf of utilities participating in the Generic PWR Safety and Relief Valve Test Program, transmitted the following information:
1.
A description and listing of block valves used in PWR plants.
2.
EPRI/ Marshall Electric Motor Operated Valve (Block Valve)
Interim Test Data Report, May 31, 1982.
We have reviewed the Marshall test data and, based upon this review, have concluded the following:
1.
Valves tested at the Marshall facility are representative of block valves installed at Point Beach Nuclear Plant, i
2.
The conditions for which the valves were tested are representative of the range of expected operating and accident conditions at Point Beach Nuclear Plant.
3.
That the test results provide the test evidence required by NUREG-0737, Item II.D 1, to verify that block valves installed at Point Beach Nuclear Plant will function properly over the range of expected operating and accident conditions. Pkh
