ZION NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, REGULATORY GUIDE 1.97 COMPLIANCE (TAC NOS. M86112 AND M86113)
By letter dated April 15, 1991, Commonwealth Edison Company (Ceco) described commitmente to re-evaluate the current Reactor Coolant System pressure recorder design and provide an update to the Zion Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.97 Parameter Summary Table. The update to the table also addresses a staff concern with instrument ranges identified in a previous special. inspection and proposed modifications to instruments to ensure compliance with the requirements of RG 1.97.
The previous Safety Evaluation on this subject was sent to the licensee on April 14, 1989.
The staff has reviewed Ceco's submittal and finds the six deviations, the three completed and one proposed modification, and the Technical Specifications amendment to be acceptable methods of complying with the requirements of RG 1.97.
A copy of the Safety Evaluation is enclosed.
