Combined Inspection 50-220/94-01 and 50-410/94-01 (01/3-7/94)
This letter refers to the above subject physical security inspection of Nine Mile Point Nuclear
Station Units 1 and 2, by Mr. E. B. King of this office. The preliminary inspection findings
were discussed with Mr. McCormick and other members of your staff by Mr. King at the
conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during the inspection are described in the enclosed NRC Region I Inspection
Report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of observations of security activities,
interviews with personnel, and selective examinations of security procedures and representative
records.
We found that your physical security program is effective and directed toward assuring public
health and safety. Management support for the program was evident through theimplementation
of several program enhancements to increase its effectiveness. No safety concerns or violations
were observed.
