1.0 INTRODUCTION

This report documents the results of the Outage #8 (Refueling-#7)-

Inservice Inspection-of Florida Power Corpolation's Crystal River-Unit 3 nuclear-power plant.

This outage is the first outage in the second 10 year interval.

1 The nondestructive examinations were performed by the B&W Nuclear Service Company (BWNS) personnel from March 19'90 through June 1990, in compliance with the requirements of the 1983 Edition of the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code with Addenda through the Summer of 1983, and applies.ble NRC Requlatory Guides, and technical specifications for this unit.

Included in this report is a summary of examination results, examination data, evaluation' reports, calibration data,' personnel, material and quipment certifications, and reference document-affecting this outage.

All nondestructive examinations were performed in accordance with t

the' procedures contained in the 1990 Inservice Inspection Manual for Crystal River Unit 3.-

The examination. procedures were approved.

by BWNS-personnel qualified to SNT-TC-1A Level III.

These procedures.

conform to the requirements of the 1983 Edition of the ASME Code, Section XI-with Addenda through Summer 1983, NRC-Regulatory Guides, and owner Technical Specification.

The examinations-were performed'by BWNS technicians qualified to-SNT-TC-1A as required.

The NDE equipment =used was calibrated in accordance with the requirements of ISI-80, " Administrative 1-1 L

1.0 INTRODUCTION

Procedure for Preventive Maintenance of NDE Equipment", which is contained-in the 1990 Inservice Inspection Manual for Crystal-River:

Unit 3.

The materials used for the examinations were certified by-the-l'.

manufactures.

In addition to the examination data prepared by BWNS, examination data generated by !'10rida Power Corporation during this outage is '

also included herein.

This data was inserted by FPC after receipt of the report from BWN3.

This report was prepared for Florida Power Corporation by the B&W-

Nuclear Service Company-under reference number 583-7472' Task 736.

The results of the examinations conducted during the 1990 Crystal River Unit 3 Outage #8 are described in detail in the following

(

sections.

The examinations were performed by B&W Nuclear Service Company between March and June 1990.

The examinations performed were as listed in the Crystal River Inservice Inspection Plan prepared by Florida Power Corporation and contained in Section 3 of this report.

The examination data generated by BWNS during this outage for Class 1, 2 and.3 components are' included in Sections 4 through 6 respectively.

Summary tables located in the front of each'section summarizes the examination data.

the component and the identifying figure number for the examination.

'l Component identification uses: specific names in conjunction with the.

following acronyms:

REFUEL VII The following is a summary of inservice tests completed during Refuel VII. Details of the testing completed by Florida Power Corporation are contained in plant files and are available upon request.

Relief Valves Set Point Tested 4 Main Steam Reliefs' 20 System Reliefs' 2 Pressurizer Reliefs' Hydrostatic Tests Fifteen (15) Hydrostatic tests were scheduled for completion during the first forty month period of this second interval. Those 15 Hydrostatic tests were completed as scheduled. One (1) additional Hydrostatic test was also completed. All Class 1 piping was also Hydrotested.

Inservice Pressure Tests All Class 2 and 3 systems that were not scheduled to be Hydrostatically tested during this perhd have been subjected to an Inservice Leak Test.

Snubbers Visual examination was completed on 100% (269) of the Safety Related Snubbers.

Fifteen percent (15%) of the snubbers (42) have been functionally tested.

Reactor Coolant Pump Examinations e

Volumetric examination was performed on ten (10) newly installed reactor coolant pump studs and visual examination was completed on RCP-1A casing interior during the March 1989 outage.
