MAIN STEAM ISOLATION VALVE (TAC NO. M87666)
By letter dated September 18, 1993, you submitted a request for relief from l
the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code,Section XI requirements regarding repair of the "D" outboard main steam isolation valve (MSIV). The NRC staff responded by letter dated September 24, 1993, granting the requested relief provided a radiographic inspection of the MSIV body is accomplished after the next two scheduled refueling outages.
A question regarding the meaning of "after the next two scheduled refueling outages" was raised. The staff's intent of this statement is to assure that a radiographic inspection of the repaired areas is performed on the MSIV body during each of the next two refueling outages.
