We are writing to you regarding issues raised by Ms. Mary

Ellen Marucci relating to the design of the spent fuel pool at Millstone 2 nuclear power plant.

Ms. Mary Ellen Marucci has raised two major points with our i

staff.

First, she is concerned that there will not be adequate f

monitoring in the pool itself to provide continuous information I

4 as to the potential for supercriticality.

We have previously brought this to the NRC's attention in letters to Mr. Taylor.

Second, Ms. Marucci is concerned that all of the scientific and technical information she submitted may not have been seen or i

fully considered.

1 Given the serious nature of these concerns, we request that 4

you provide our staff with a briefing on the issues associated with the spent fuel pool design.
