1993 INSERVICE INSPECTION 3-1 BIG ROCK POINT PLANT F

Inservice Inspection No. 3-1 was conducted during the period of June 26, 1993 through September 5, 1993 in accordant? I ch Section 9.0 of the Big Rock Point i

Technical Specifications, except as specified by Consumers Power Company letter dated January 22, 1993, which updated the applicable ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI to the 1986 Edition.

Areas examined during this inspection included various components of the portions of the nuclear steam system and portions of various support systems piping as itemized in the attached Table 2 - Inservice Inspection No. 3-1 Examination Table.

The examinations were performed using Radiographic (RT) Ultrasonic (UT),

l Liquid Penetrant (PT) and Visual (VT) techniques. The various examinations were conducted in accordance with Consumers Power Company Engineering and Technical Services Department (E&TS), Southwest Research Institute (SWRI) and EBASCO Services Inc using approved procedures.

Examinations were performed by personnel qualified in the NDT process utilized in accordance with the requirements of Section XI IWA-2300, 1986 ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel e

Code.

Instances of reportable indications are itemized in the attached Table 1 - Resolution of Reportable Indications.

The following is a list of repairs / replacements which have been performed from May 1992 through the end of the 1993 refueling outage for which HIS-2 forms are attached:

Replacement of the feedwater regulating valve i

Replacement of the reactor head vent line Replacement of RDS Target Rock valve bolting Replacement of reactor head vent line flange Repair of steam drum level sensing line weld Repair of RDS branch connection socket weld During the 1993 ISI inspections augmented IGSCC inspections were performed in accordance with the IGSCC Inspection Program approved by the NRC in a letter dated October 19, 1992. The results of these inspections were acceptable.

It should be noted that weld 24-MRS-121-01 (this weld contains an IGSCC like indication) was re-examined and the indication noted in previous exams has not i

changed in size.

All records detailing procedures, personnel and equipment certifications, examination data, and disposition of reportable indications are on file at the Big Rock Point Plant and also in General Office,1945 West Parnall Road, Jackson, Michigan 49201.
