Special Report submitted in accordance with Zion Tech Spec.. Surv. 4.15.1.B.5 This repcrt addresses one invalid failure of the 1A EDG. The criteria to determine
~
6 valid tests is in accordance with Section C.2 e of Reg. Guide 1.108.
On August 20, 1993 at 1737 the 1A EDG was secured during PT-L1 due to erratic-voltage control. Investigation by the system engineer revea'ted a dirty voltage adjust potentiometer. The potentiometer was cleaned and verified to be operating-smoothly. The EDG was returned to service August 21.1993 at 0146 following a successful PT-11. Additional corrective measures are being evaluated. This failure-l was determined to be invalid per R.G. 1.108. The 1A EDG was unavailable for approximately 08:09 hours during the course of this event.
l The test frequency for 1A EDG is 31 days.
