MAINE YANKEE ATOMIC POWER STATION--STATION ELECTRICAL SUPPLY AND DISTRIBUTION (TAC NOS. M82891 and M85902)
By letter dated March 31, 1992, we requested information on:
- 1) how the 345 kV to 115 kV fast transfer scheme periodically is tested to verify its operability; 2) the industry standards and practices that have been implemented in the design of the protective relaying scheme for 6.9 kV and 4160 V buses, main and station service transformers, and the main generator; and 3) copies of the technical records and documentation associated with replacement of station auxiliary transformer X-14.
Attachments to your letter of response, dated June 22, 1992, supplied all requested information, with the exception of the technical records and documentation associated with replacement of station auxiliary transformer X-14.
Because the procurement specification for station auxiliary transformer X-14 has not yet been developed, you agreed to provide a copy of this specification for our review when it becomes available (projected for January 1994).
On February 17, 1993, you requested to amend Facility Operating License No.
DPR-36 for the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station. Two items within that amendment request relate to station electrical sources: One item addressed actions to be taken and permissible station operation when 115 kV reserve power to the station is lost, coincident with a loss of one of the station's two standby emergency diesel generators; the other item addressed a restriction placed on 115 kV reserve power to the station in a previous license amendment (Amendment No. 106, issued on September 7, 1988).
On August 3,1993, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued Amendment No.140 to Maine Yankee's Operating License, including the staff's Safety Evaluation (SE) enclosed therewith.
Items 2.5 and 2.6 of the SE considered the two items of your amendment request described above.
Based on the analysis presented in the SE, each of these amendment request items was found acceptable.
Thus, there remain no open or unresolved items associated with either the offsite electrical supply to, or the distribution system within, Maine Yankee i
