Dear Mr. Mardis:

This is in response to your letter dated May 10, 1982, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, a list of all documents utilized in the development and review of coments on that part of 10 CFR 50.44(c)(3)(iii) that deals with high point vents for the reactor vessel head.

In response to your request, Mr. Frank W. Karas of my staff telephoned your office, on June 18, 1982, to explain to your Mr. Ron Brite that the three documents identified by Mr. Morton Fleischman of the NRC's Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research as being sut' ject to your request, have already been sent to the Florida Power Corporation.

For your convenience, the three documents are described on Appendix A hereto.

This completes action on your request.

Dear Mr. Stolz:

On December 2,1981, the NRC published (Federal Register, Volume 46, Number 231, pages 58484-58486) the Final Interim Requirements Related to Hydrogen

'l Control to be effective as of January 4,1982. These requirements are contained in 10CFR50.44.(C)(3)(ii) and (iii). Florida Power Corporation (FPC) is very concerned about hydrogen control in the reactor coolant system and thus has been assessing the impact of the subject item and its potential benefits in maintaining adequate core cooling. To assist us in this assessment and as required by the Freedom of Information Act, Title 5, United States Code, Section 552 (5USC552), please forward a list of all documents utilized in the development and review of comments of that part of 10CFR50.44(c)(3)(iii) that deals with high point vents for the reactor vessel head.

Within thirty (30) days of receipt of this information, FPC will request any specific documents that will aid us in our assessment. Within ninety (90) days of receipt of those documents, FPC will either (1) submit a request for exemption to the reactor vessel head vent requirement or (2) begin the process of design and procurement of the high point vents for the reactor vessel head with the installation at the first Dl O
