DESCRIPTION OF REPORTABLE OCCURRENCE Initial Condition At the time of discovery Unit 2 was in cold shutdown with mode switch in the refuel position.
Nature of Occurrence Site was notified by letter that an error had been discovered in the ODYN transient code which could have resulted in a
.01 non-conservatism in the Cycle 3 LCO for MCPR.
Immediate Corrective Action A.01 penalty will be incorporated into the MCPR limits for both fuel types.
As the unit had not begun Cycle 3 operation no other action was required.
Cause The error was the result of incorrect programing in the axial power distribution calculation.
Supplemental Corrective Action The vendor is reperforming the Cycle 3 analysis with a correct program.
Status of Redundant or Backup Systems The unit was not in operation at the time of discovery.
Impact to Other Unit The Unit 1 OLMCPR is based on the Rod Withdrawal Error and is not affected by the ODYN error.
Justification for Continued Operation A.01 additional penalty will be added to the Cycle 3 OLMCPR values to compensate for the error.
