UPDATE OF ALWutAZ STEAM GENERATOR STATUS AND OPERATION This is a follerup to the infermetten presented in G. Laines' March 18, 1982 memo on Almaraz Unit 1.
ft. Jose Villadonige of the Junita de Energia Nuclear. Spain, on temporary assignment to SEPB. called the Consejo Wridad Nuclear (CSM) on April 2.1982 concerning the status of Almaraz.
ECT of the steam generator takes has been cespleted. As prevleusly reported the utility has requested to operate Almeret Unit 1 at 635 power (505 feehater flas through the usin fasereter natale and 135 tbwgh tae aux 111ery feeerster nozzles. The utilities' request is based or, the recommendations in a report by Westinghouse. C5N believes that more detailed justification is required in the Westinghouse report before this recommendation for operation can be approved. C5N has requested further inforestion from Westinghouse.
Regarding the previously plugged tubes, CSN is considering conversion l
to " leaking plugs" in order that incipient through wall tube degredation i
would be detected.
