Pdny-Nut Docket Nos. 50-440 and 50-441 Repairs to Motor Control Centers (RDC 17(80))
Dear Mr. Keppler:
This letter constitutes a revision to our letter dated November 25, 1981 regarding the repair of Cutler-Hammer Motor Control Centers.
In that letter the scheduled completion date of repairs, as outlined in our final report dated March 9, 1981, was changed from June 1, 1981 to April !
1982. As a result of our continued investigation, this date is again in need of revision.
Further inspections of all Cutler-Hammer starter units, not previously determined to be deficient, revealed problems on eleven additional starters.
Eight starters contained unqualified wire and seven contained improper terminal blocks. These additional deficiencies have been documented on either Nonconformance Reports or Deficiency Reports.
In regard to the replacement of Bus Bar Splice Plate bolts, this work is proceeding.
Originally only one motor control center was identified as having defective splice plate bolts. As part of the disposition to this nonconforming condition, splice plate bolts on all motor control centern were to be replaced. This work has been completed on all but two 125VDC motor control centers.
However, in order to aid in the tracking of documentation requirements, additional nonconformance reports are being generated to clarify the specific motor control centers involved.
The replacement of wiring, terminal blocks and splice plate bolts is now scheduled for completion on September 15, 1982.
