m In your March 19,1982 letter, you committed to shutdown the Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Plant by April 9,1982 in ordar to perform radiographic and ultrasonic examinations of the four high pressure injection nozzles.
You subsequently informed us that you will be shutting the plant down on April 2,1982, and you requested NRC approval to purge before the reactor is in cold shutdo.tn.
You are hereby authorized to purge containment before the reactor is in cold shutdown for a maximum time Afi90rhoursin ycar 1982. As you previously purged containment with the reactor operating above cold shutdown for approximately 36 hours4.166667e-4 days <br />0.01 hours <br />5.952381e-5 weeks <br />1.3698e-5 months <br /> in January 1982, you are permitted only about 54 additional hours of purging with the reactor operating above cold shutdown in year 1982 While purging, you shall purge in accordance with the following:
1)
Inlet purge valves SFV 53504 and SFV 53503 shall remain shut at all times.

- 2) The containment shall be purged with air drawn through the pressure equalization line valves SFV 53610 and 53603, and exhausted through the normal purge outlet valves SFV 53604 and 53605.
- 3) Purge outlet valves SFY 53604 and SFV 53605 may be opened provided SFV 53605 is administrative 1y limited to the 45' open position.
SFV 53504 has been verified to be blocked at the 60' open position.,

e Prior to returning the reactor to a hot standby condition all purge and vent valves shall be returned to the closed position, and your January 19, 1980 comitment to limit purging and ventina to times when the reactor is at cold shutdown or refueling shall be in effect.
