Dear Mr. Haynes:
SIGNIFICANT CONSTRUCTION DEFICIENCY VARGLASS WIRE TIES HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION On July 17, 1981, a verbel report was made to Region 1, Office of Inspection and Enforcement representative, Mr.
L.
Briggs, advising of a potential significant construction deficiency.
On August 17, 1981, a written report was sub-mitted to your office.
The following supplemental informa-tion is provided in accordance with the requirements of 10CF R5 0.5 5 ( e ).

Bechtel has verified that the use of varglass cable ties is limited to those Motor Control Centers supplied by General Electric's facility in Mebane, North Carolina.
2.
To preclude tie wrap slippage as well as unravelling, we have elected to replace the varglass cable ties rather than add silicon sealer to the existing varglass ties.
Documentation of the results of our actions will be availa-ble on site for review by your inspectors.
