.W OATE/ TIME INI'IAL I.
General This procedure describes the steps to be taken to shutdevn the reactor frc= a het standby condition to a hot shutdevn condition.
II.
Initial Canditions Reactor and steam plant conditions are stabilized at the hot standby condition in accordance with OP-5
/
III.
Precautiens 1.
The reacter =ust never be =aintained critical below the power dependent insertion li=its.
2.
Eoren DILUTICH =ust never be perfe:=ed while shutting down the reactor. Make-up to the RC system vill be at a boren concentration that is equal to or greater than the boren concentration in the RC system.
3.
The shutdevn CEA groups must never be inserted b::M:-
below their exercise limit until all regulating CEA's are inserted.
h.
After a substantial change in reactor coolant boren concentration (6 eater than 50 pp=) the pressurizer spray valves should be operated at mn-* u= spray, consistant with pressure require-
=ents, until the bcron concentration differential t
between the pressurizer water and the locp water is less than 10 pp=.
5 Maintain T constant throughout this procedure avg by use of the stea= du=p and bypass system.
l I7.
Precedure 1.
Shutdown the reactor by inserting the regulating CIA groups in the =anual sequential =cde in accordance with OI.RR-1.
/
HOTE:
If the ec=puter is unavailable, use the
=anual peup =ede of control vnile = sin-taining proper group everlap by use of
}.9919{.y the red gcup everlap curve.

Precedure (Continued).
DATI/Tr4E I'iTTIAL 2.
Observe the following during insertion of the h
regulating CIA's:
a.
Monitor all vide range log nuclear instru=ents.
b.
At 10 h'" power ensure that the high power rate of change trip is bypassed auto-
=atically.
When the r-a ctor.,*cver has been reduced c.
to the 10-g/10-8 d range (belov 10 cys) turn off the RFS 3-10 detector cutout switches (light off) and ensure that high voltag: has been aute=atically 10 applied to the B detectors of the vide range log channels.
d.
Activate the audible count rate system.
e.
Each inserted CEA reaches its lover electrical limit.
/
3.
Fully vithdraw the partial length CEA's in accordance with OI-RR-1.
/
e,.
C UOTE:
Partial length CEA's =ay be "ully inserted at this ti=e if a cecidown is planned.
h.
Insert Shutdown groups A and B in accordance with OI-RR-1.
/
5 Ecrate (if required) to obtain a new RCS bcron i
concentraticn which meets the shutdown =arS n requirements cf Tech. Spec. 2.10.2.
Use the hot shutdown baron concentration curve in the Technical Data Scok to dete. ine the required bcron concentration.
/
6.
'4 hen all shutdown and regulating CEA's have been verified to be at the icver electrical limit, place the Red Control Mode Selecter Switch to the "0FF" pcsition.

HOTI:
If a short duration shutdovn is planned, all RC pu=ps should be left running.
The starting of RC punps with the RC syste= at operating te=perature introduces a significant te=perature transient on the RC pt.p seals and therefore such operation should be minimized.
8.
If a ecoldcyn is required, cooldown in accord-ance with OP-6 after borating the RCS (if required) to obtain the cold shutdown boren concentration (as determined frc= the cold shutdown boron concentration curre in the Technical Data Bock) or the refueling concen-
/
tration.
