'Ihe subject deficiency was initially reported to NIC-OIE Inspector R. V. Crlenjak on April 12, 1982 in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55(e) as ERs BIN BLP 8214 and BIN BLP 8215. Enclosed is our first interim report. We expect to subnit our next report by August 18, 1982.

%e 3-inch containment isolation and test valves, manufactured by Target Rock Valve Company, East Farmingdale, New York (VSED-018-ri and VSEB-019-N) and the 4-inch auxiliary feedwater pressure control valves, manufactured by YARNAY Corporation, Blue Bell, Pennsylvania (VSEC-046-A and VSEC-047-B) indicated on nonconformance report Nos. BIN BLP 8214 and BIN BLP 8215, respectively, were purchased as nonactive cmponents. %ese valves should be active components.
Interim Progress TVA will have the valve manufacturers qualify the existing valves as active components.
