Environmental Qualification of Safe Shut Down Equipment and Instrumentati(
This is to confirm the telephone conversation of June 3, concerning environmental qualification of instrumentation and equipment necessary to facilitate safe shut 1
down of the facility in the event of a steam line or feedwater line rupture.
f As indicated in the con'versation, certification is in hand for all instrumentation I
and equipment listed in Table 6.1-1 of our response to question 6.1 contained in amendment 18 to the FSAR. That instrumentation that has been added to the safe shutdown list as the result of our evaluation and assignment of cables as being essential shall be environmentally qualified as rapidly as the quali-fications can be obtained. At the time when we exceed 40% power those instru-ments remaining to be environmentally qualified will be reviewed with I&E and all environmental certifications shall be in hand prior to resuming operation following the first refueling.
Yours very truly, R. F. Walker Vice President j
