INTERIM REPORT - DER 82-9 POTENTIAL REPORTABLE DEICIENCY ARIZONA PUBLIC SERVI;J 8,OMPANY (APS)
PVNGS UNITS 1, 2 AND 3 I.
Potential Problem The Diesel Generator Specification 13-MM-018 requires certain piping assemblies to be ASME Section III, Class 3.
Contrary to this, stainless steel thermowells for RTD's and thermometers are not traceable to ASME Section III, Class 3, material, and are installed in Class 3 piping. The piping systems are low pressure (less than 100 psig) and low temperatures (less than 200F). The standard thermowells are rated in excess of 6,000 psig at 200F.
II.
Approach To and Status Of Proposed Resolution Nonconformance Reports MG-1190, 1191 and 1192 (Units 1, 2 and 3, respectively) have been initiated to replace all the standard thermowells with thermowells traceable to the ASME Section III Code.
