VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT, UNITS 3 AND 4 ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENTS REGARDING TORNADO MISSILE PROTECTION FOR MAIN STEAM VENT STACKS AND WALL 11 (LAR-19-014) (EPID L-2019-LLA-0097)
Dear Mr. Whitley:
In response to your application dated August 16, 2019, and supplemented on February 14, 2020, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment Nos. 178 and 177 to Combined License (COL) Nos. NPF-91 and NPF-92 for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP) Units 3 and 4, respectively.
The amendments authorize changes in VEGP Tier 2 Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (including plant-specific Design Control Document information) to address certain changes to the analysis of the auxiliary building main steam safety valve vent stack openings and the auxiliary building Wall 11 openings for protection from tornado-generated missiles.
A copy of the related Safety Evaluation, which includes the NRC staff evaluation of the changes, is also enclosed. A notice of issuance of the amendment documents included in this letter will be published in the Federal Register.
