This refers to the routine safeguards inspection conducted by Nancy J. Cogan
of this office on January 11-15, 1982, at Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station,
Vernon, Vermont, of activities authorized by NRC License No. DPR-28, and to
the discussions of our findings held by Ms. Cogan with Mr. W. Murphy of your
staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the Region I Inspection
Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection
consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records,
interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspectors.
Our inspectors also verified the steps you have taken to correct the violation
brought to your attention in a letter dated July 21, 1981.
We have no further
questions regarding your action at this time.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were cbserved.
In accordance with 10 CFR 73.21 of the NRC's regulations, documentation of
security measures for the physical protection of special nuclear materials and
certain plant equipment vital to the safety of production or utili7ation
facilities is deemed to be Safeguards Information.
Each person who produces,
receives or acquires Safeguards Information is required to ensure that it is
protected against unauthorized disclosure. Therefore, except for the report
coversheet, the enclosure to this letter will not be placed in the Public
Document Room and will be distributed pursuant to 10 CFR 73.21(c).
