Dear Mr. Stolz:
This letter is submitted in reference to Toledo Edison's evaluation of NUREG 0737, Clarification of TMI Action Plan, Item II.D.1.
This item deals with testing of pressurizer code safety and power operated relief valves (PORV). Toledo Edison participated in the planning and funding of the Electric Power Research Institute's (EPRI) Safety and Relief Valve Testing Program and has received the associated data. The specific valves installed at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit I were not tested by EPRI. However, the tests conducted were designed to bound the Davis-Besse actual configuration. Results were generally acceptable, but this bounding approach requires interpolation of test data be performed prior to any final conclusions regarding specific valve performance.
These evaluations are underway at Toledo Edison and a schedule for reso-lution of Item II.D.1 will be available for the required July 1, 1982 submittal.
Very truly yours, f::
