This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. Borcs of this office

on October 21-24 and 30-31,1974 at the Indian Point Nuclear Generating

Station, Buchanan, New York of activities authorized by AEC License

Nos. DPR-5, DPR-26 and CPPR-62 and to the discussions of our findings

held by Mr. Beres with Messrs. Stein and VanUyck and other members of

your staff at the conclusien of the inspection.

Arcas examined during this inspection are described in the Regulatory

Operations Inspection Report uhich is enclosed with this letter.

Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selcetive examinations

of procedures and representative records, intervicus with personnel.

Ou'r inspector also verified the steps you had taken to correct the

violations brought to your attention in a letter dated August 2, 1973

follouing our last inspection.

He have no further question regarding

these matters.

With respect to Construction Permit No. CPPR-62, uithin the scope of

this inspection, no violations or safety items uere observed.

Houcver,

with respect to License Nos. DPR-5 and DPR-26, during this inspection,

it was found that certain of your activities appeared to be in

violation of AEC requircaents.

The itens- and references to the

pcrtinent requircmants are listed in the enclosure to this letter.

This lettur constitutes a notice sont to you pursuant to the provisions

of Section 2.201 of the AEC's " Rules of Practice", Part 2, Title

10, Code of Federal Regulations. Section 2.201 requires you te

submit to this office within 20 days of your receipt of this notice,

a uritten statcmant of enplanation in reply, including: (1) corrective

steps which have been or vill be taken by you, and the results

achieved; (2) ' corrective steps which ulll be taken to avoid.further

violations ; and (.';
