Dear Mr. Denton:

In a letter dated August 20, 1981, South Carolina Electric and Gas Company requested to utilize ASME Code Case N-272 " Compiling Data Report Records".

It was noted that the annulment date for the case was January 1,1982 and that we did not expect to utilize the case beyond its annulment date. Ilowever, since that time it has become necessary j

for us to continue to utilize the procedure described in Code Case N-272 for compiling data report records. To accomplish this SCE6G proposes to comply with the Summer 1981 Addenda of the 1980 edition of the ASME code sections NCA 8430 and 8440. As discussed with Mr. Robert Kirkwood of the NRC staff, these sections of the Code describe the same procedures as outlined in Code Case N-272 and would therefore represent no change to the existing programs.
