PURPOSE - This procedure provides the steps necessary to mitigate a continuous control rod motion transient.

B.

ENTRY CONDITIONS / SYMPTOMS 1.

SYMPTOMS - The symptoms of CONTINUOUS CONTROL ROD WITHDRAWAL / INSERTION are; a.

Unwarranted Control Rod motion, or b.

Annunciator C-22, ROD WITHDRAWAL BANK D HIGH 95%,

lit, or c.

Any rod insertion limit alarm (panel C).

Evaluate Rod Control System Operability:

a.

Place Rod Control Bank Selector Switch to MANUAL

b. Verify control rod notion stops
b. Manually trip the reactor and go O

to E-0, REACTOR TRIP or SAFETY INJECTION.

3 Verify Control Rods Operable In Manual:

a. Insert / withdraw control rods to MRPI transition
b. Verify MRPI indicates control
b. Consult Plant Staff and Tech rod motion Spec section 3,10 to determine operability of rod control system and go to Step 4
c. Restore control rods to desired position 4 Check RCS Tavg Channel IE any Tavg channel malfunction is Indications:

6 Check NIS PR Indication:

b. PRZR pressure - TRENDING TO b Verify proper operation of PRZR 2235 PSIG heaters and spray or take manual control of PRZR pressure controller 431R.

E pressure can NOT be centrolled. THEN refer to AP-PRZR.1, ABNORMAL PRESSURIZER PRESSURE.

c. PRZR IcVel - TRENDING TO PROGRAM
c. Verify proper operation of charging pump speed controllers or take manual control of speed controllers to control PRZR level.

d. Rod insertion limit alarms -
d. Borate as necessary and withdraw EXTINGUISHED control rods to clear insertion limit alarms (refer to affected rod bank alarm response procedures if necessary),
e. NIS PR AI - WITHIN i 5% OF
e. Borate / dilute to restore AI to TARGET VALUE within limits.
