Narrative Summary of Operating Experiences Unit 1 began this operating period at 100% of rated thermal power (RTP).

On May 6, 1993 at 1349 hours0.0156 days <br />0.375 hours <br />0.00223 weeks <br />5.132945e-4 months <br /> a Reactor Water Cleanup (RWCU)

Isolation occurred due to high room temperatures as a result of Reactor Enclosure Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning System being removed from service for maintenance work.

The RWCU System was returned to service at 1404 hours0.0163 days <br />0.39 hours <br />0.00232 weeks <br />5.34222e-4 months <br />.

r On May 14, 1993 at 0842 hours0.00975 days <br />0.234 hours <br />0.00139 weeks <br />3.20381e-4 months <br /> power was reduced to 91% RTP for Main Turbine Valve Testing.

Power was restored to 100%

RTP at 1005 hours0.0116 days <br />0.279 hours <br />0.00166 weeks <br />3.824025e-4 months <br />.

On May 21, 1993 at 1246 hours0.0144 days <br />0.346 hours <br />0.00206 weeks <br />4.74103e-4 months <br /> the

'lB' Reactor Feed Pump Min Flow Valve failed open.

Reactor level decreased to 28 inches (from 35 inches).

Reactor power had increased to 100.4% RTP.

Operational transient procedures were entered, power was reduced to 99% RTP and a manual valve in-service with the Reactor Feed Pump Min Flow Valve was closed.

The cause of the valve to fail open was due to an unexpected component failure on the valve control air regulator.

Power was rectored to 100% RTP at 1345 hours0.0156 days <br />0.374 hours <br />0.00222 weeks <br />5.117725e-4 months <br />.

On May 22, 1993 at 0400 hours0.00463 days <br />0.111 hours <br />6.613757e-4 weeks <br />1.522e-4 months <br /> a power reduction began so that each condensate pump could be removed from service one at a time to align pump bearings.

Power-was reduced to 75% RTP by 0443 hours0.00513 days <br />0.123 hours <br />7.324735e-4 weeks <br />1.685615e-4 months <br />.

Following the maintenance activities power was returned to 100% RTP at 0922 hours0.0107 days <br />0.256 hours <br />0.00152 weeks <br />3.50821e-4 months <br /> on May 23, 1993.

On May 23 at 2210 hours0.0256 days <br />0.614 hours <br />0.00365 weeks <br />8.40905e-4 months <br /> power was reduced to 96% RTP for a control rod pattern adjustment and then restored to 100% RTP.

Unit 1 ended this operating period at 100% of rated thermal power.

II. Challenges to Main Steam Safety Relief Valves There were no challenges to the Main Steam Safety Relief Valves during the month of May.
