Thank you for your letter of May 22, 1990, with a proposed agenda for a public meeting regarding the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station. We agree that a public meeting to discuss the NRC licensing process with respect to the conversion of the Provisional Operating License to a Full Term Operating License may be beneficial. My staff will contact your staff to arrange details of the public meeting and of technical meetings with your staff on a number cf the issues raised in our meetings with you on February 22 and 28, 1990.
Our position continues to be that a Level III Probabilistic Risk Assessment is not required for Oyster Creek. The Commission's position is outlined in Generic Letter 88-20, " Individual Plant Examination for Severe Accident Vulnerabilities-10CFR50.54(f)." This issue can be further clarified in one of the follow-up technical discussions with our Probabilistic Risk Assessment Staff.
We look forward to the meetings and trust that they will be fruitful in resolving concerns on the Oyster Creek plant.
